Kelly Auty Band update for 2023
May 29, 2023
Kelly has been working on new arrangements of some of her favourite originals & covers in the style of Blues, Roots, Country rock & Americana.
Wanting to start 2023 with a brand-new look & sound, Kelly teamed with award winning & Blues Music Vic Hall of Fame Inductee, Melbourne producer & bass player, Barry Hills, who has put together an amazing group of musicians. Kelly’s long time Drummer/singer, Nick Carrafa joins the line-up for 2023, with Brian Fraser – Electric, Acoustic and Slide Guitars, lap steel, vocals, and Roland Kretschmer - Electric and Acoustic Guitars, Mandolin, Vocals, both multi award winners.
The band recently recorded at Woodstock Studio with engineer Richard Stolz.

Following a fun night entertaining an audience from around the globe at the the 17th Triennial International Inner Wheel 2018 Convention Friendship Dinner at South Wharf, Melbourne on Thursday 12 April 2018, I received this lovely testimonial from Val Corva, IIW 2018 Convention Coordinator.
IIW 2018 Convention Showtime, South Wharf, MelbourneThursday 12 April 2018. The incredible Kelly Auty and her sensational band of talented musos, brought the house down with a 3 hour high energy performance, that saw around 1500 delegates from 50 countries attending the 17th Triennial International Inner Wheel 2018 Convention Friendship Dinner at Showtime, South Wharf (Melbourne) on Thursday 12 April 2018- pack the dance floor and dance the night away. Kelly’s amazing repertoire of international songs and genres was a fabulous feature of her show to remember. The delegates loved her.
Thanks Kelly. You rocked! In my role as the Convention Coordinator, I could not have chosen a better act for this fabulous event and couldn’t recommend Kelly more highly for conference and corporate dinners, private and club parties, wherever the goal is to showcase talented performers who give their all and ensure everyone a high energy night of dancing and entertainment.
Val Corva, IIW 2018 Convention Coordinator
I am always so very grateful to people who appreciate my performances but it’s always really nice for it to be written.
I love big audiences and events like this and the IIW crowd were so keen to dance. Thanks Val and the IWW.

Backwards in High Heels
Kelly Auty's Backwards in High Heels Show was a roller-coaster of music through time … songs, stories and fashions of great women performers from 1950 to 1980.
Fun, inspiring, energetic and heartfelt. It’s a Gospel, Rockin, Blues, Country, Soul journey. Songs from Annie Lennox, Bette Midler, Christine McVie, Linda Ronstadt, Madeline Kahn, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Miriam Makeba, Aretha Franklin, Odetta, Peggy Lee, Etta James, Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Dinah Washington, Eartha Kitt, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Ruth Brown, Pearl Bailey and Edith Paif.
Winning hearts and minds they sing the sounds of change, breaking taboos and standing in their power as singers, musicians, composers, civil rights activists, international stars and recording artists.
They lived for their dreams, paving the way for the talented women treading the boards today. The show is a fabulous trip down memory lane.

Review of “Big Gold Sun”
“Big Gold Sun” is a Kelly Auty album that I am particularly fond of; because it showcases the fact that her wonderful vocal talents are equally on display, regardless of the style or genre of the music itself. It is also an album that highlights her great songwriting ability.
“Pearl” is a rollicking, almost vaudevillian number that is a sharp contrast to the slow, soothing “Misty Blue”. But it is on “Rather Go Blind” that Kelly really demonstrates her blues credentials; to me, her last line of that song sums up just what blues is all about in the very last phrase! “Doin’ It Right” is a smiley face house rocking number that provides an appropriately big finish to the collection.
Kelly Auty is a performer of the highest order. The depth of feeling that she conveys through her music puts her right up there with Billie Holiday and Etta James.
